This week, the Autumn Equinox came and went, marking the end of Light’s dominance, and the beginning of the growing Darkness (that sounded kind of dooms-day-ish, didn’t it?) I always feel a surge of fevered mania this time of year, and I have to resist the urge to be impulsive and reckless. If this season is representative of the transition from cultivating to composting, my slash-and-burn instincts don’t seem so far-fetched! (to clarify: I am not advocating slashing OR burning.) I recently ran across a great article that has inspired me to find more balance during the changeover.
I have composed two recipes featuring seasonal flavors for an autumn themed pot-luck. I finally have the perfect excuse to use Black quinoa to create a Dark dish, and peeled barley for my Light dish!
I hope you are inspired by the season’s colors, smells and changing atmosphere. As you start to bring the plants, the animals and your recreation indoors, focus your intentions inwardly… and put this amazing food full of LOVE in your belly!
