AmbeR became a vegetarian over 20 years ago, in a conservative North Texas town. For several years, she never met another vegetarian. Her mother was very supportive and would set aside portions of the family meal sans meat, but AmbeR had to teach herself to construct healthy vegetarian meals out of necessity, as her community was deeply rooted in the Standard American Diet and offered virtually no options for people like her.
AmbeR’s background is in Studio Art, which carries into her cooking through improvisation, problem solving, and inventive use of materials. She has had the benefit of living in multiple diverse, progressive communities and has made many wonderful friends who have broadened her culinary vocabulary. Through the support and encouragement of these friends and peers, she finally submitted to creating a blog to share her recipes and passions with others.
AmbeR wants anyone with dietary limitations (or gawd-forbid nutritional standards) to no longer go meekly to the dinner table! Demand a higher standard! Raise the bar for yourself, and support others with special food needs! Empower those you love to eat GOOD food, and teach by example!
AmbeR loves to share (and eat) flavorful, complex, colorful dishes with vibrant health benefits. She enjoys the challenge of preparing healthful, delicious vegetarian meals for non-vegetarians friends and family as a way of exposing them to new flavors and food ideologies.
